Reach Truck
A reach truck is utilized to stock up supplies, pallets of goods, and to keep storage places orderly. The reach truck comes in quite a few models: the double-deep reach, straddle reach and the stand-up reach.
The most basic type is the stand-up. The forks of the truck slide under the pallet and move it to the appropriate storage place. The forks slide the pallet into position. This kind of reach truck is recommended when shelving units are one pallet in depth.
Best for workplaces where the shelving units are deep enough to have two pallets of goods, the double-deep reach truck, which is similar to the stand-up, is frequently utilized. This particular version has telescopic forks intended to place the pallet at the rear of the shelving unit. This saves having to push the pallet back when one more pallet should go into the same shelving section.
Straddle reaches have the additional advantage of being able to not only slide beneath the pallet, but also to grasp the sides. These are suitable for workplaces where shelving units could be accessed in multiple directions. This particular model is ideal in conditions where goods would not be damaged if the pallet sides are grabbed.
Inside the majority of warehouses, there are usually more than one type of reach truck. Textile companies and manufacturing facilities use different kinds of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not difficult to operate and could increase production while making the most of available storage space.
