Bud Bushnell founded Genie Industries during the year 1966, after he bought the manufacturing rights to a material lift that functioned on compressed air. The name Genie originated from the "magic in the bottle" that was used to lower and raise the hoist. This mechanism greatly impressed clients and thus, the name was born.
Genie has moved into many new markets, as the demand for lifts and work platforms grew. Over time, when the requirements for new machines to meet many applications grew, the company made itself known in numerous new markets. Like for example, Genie went into making articulated booms, light towers, man-lifts, stick booms and telehandlers.
Due to the economic downturn in the beginning of the 2000s, Genie decided to acquire a partner who held the same values. They partnered up with Terex Corporation. This company has a history obtaining machine manufacturers throughout the globe who proved to be a good business match. Genie Industries was sold in 2002 and became a part of Terex Corporation.
In the early years after the sale, it was determined to maintain the Genie brand within the Terex Aerial Work Platforms or AWP segment of Terex, due to the name's solid reputation in the marketplace. Therefore, all Genie equipment continue to be marketed under the Genie brand.
Genie takes pride in listening to their customers. The company is devoted to continually improving efficiency and quality and is also committed to lessening waste. Even long after the sale has been closed, the company concentrates on providing outstanding support. These are the very work disciplines that have made Genie a trusted brand over the last decades and continue to keep their reputation for quality and top-of-the-line equipment.
Genie's Bi-Energy and DC machines are emission-free, quiet equipment capable of working in delicate work settings. Where the machinery must be driven significant distances, like in industrial situations, the Genie bi-energy system combines the advantages of a 48V DC machinery with the power of a diesel-powered generator.
Compared to any of the various types of aerial platforms, telescopic booms offer greater horizontal reach overall. These equipment are ideal for limited access places in construction and other industrial settings. The Genie Telescopic S booms have been engineered to offer utmost productivity. These machinery deliver supreme traction and the drive speed you need to be able to travel around the job area and work site.
