Basic Fuel Types of Forklifts
Powered lift trucks referred to as forklifts are used in almost every business to move heavy items and materials. The lift truck is a really tough and dependable machinery which has become essential tools in a lot of construction and warehouse settings. Lift truck models differ depending on the type of work environment and the kind of fuel which is used to power the lift truck.

Electricity
Electric powered lift trucks are best for indoor settings, or in locations with limited ventilation as they produce no exhaust fumes. They are designed with industrial strength batteries. Because the electric lift truck batteries should be charging, the worksite will need a charging station. The batteries are durable and could be re-charged up to 1,500 times before they have to be replaced. The charging station should be situated in a ventilated area and include an emergency eyewash station and an acid spill kit.

Propane
Liquid propane powered forklifts are frequently used in modern industrial operations because propane has some benefits over diesel and electric. Propane models are cleaner to use than diesel-powered units. There is no down time needed to recharge an industrial battery, and the cost of electricity is more compared to the cost of propane. A forklift propane tank can be quickly and easily refueled by changing out the empty tank with a full tank. Usually an off-site supplier refills the empty tank, making refueling really safe and efficient.

Gasoline and Gas
Gasoline and Diesel lift trucks are the equipment of choice for rough terrain and outdoor applications. They are normally found on construction sites and lumber yards. Their disadvantages include relatively high fuel costs, fairly high maintenance requirements and odorous exhaust. Their benefits include a longer lifespan compared to other units and reliability in tough conditions. Gasoline and diesel units must be refueled at a supply station on site that meets health and safety regulations.
