How to Charge a Scissor Lift
There is a great ease when using a scissor lift, as the ease of working and the lift basket's safety provides peace of mind while attempting to carry out tasks that could have otherwise required working off the step of a ladder. The safety risks involved with this equipment make it the right option for performing jobs from heights.
The majority of scissor lifts are operated by batteries which are internally mounted in the lift's base. These batteries need to be charged following a long shift or due to sitting after extended periods without use. It is an easy job to charge the batteries. This could be done without any specialized tools or equipment and needs no heavy labor.
The machine needs to be parked near an electrical output so as to prepare the scissor lift for charging. This charging place should also be in a well-ventilated area. Then, in order to prevent another operator from driving away with the lift plugged in, press the emergency shut-off switch. The emergency shut off switch is the big red button located near the charger or the control box, inside the basket of the lift. Find the battery charger on the base of the lift on the right side. Often, older units will have the charger mounted on the back of the lift.
Then, plug the charger into the AC extension cord. Be sure you are charging in a place that is well ventilated and then plug the extension cord into an electrical outlet. So as to avoid accidental damage from being run over, the length of the electrical cord on the battery charger is purposely short. This is because if any extra length were to drop out of the battery charger storage area when in use, extreme danger can likely occur.
