Types of Hydraulic Cranes
Among the most common cranes in the construction business is hydraulic cranes. They are utilized to construct everything from roadways and freeway overpasses to buildings and skyscrapers.
Cranes come in a wide range of units, sizes and styles. These various units allow both the owner and operators to perform many more functions in their industry. Choosing the best kind of crane is crucial for making sure that the material can be moved efficiently and safely to the location it needs to get to in order for the construction process to start.
Truck Cranes
Truck cranes will usually have 2 different cabs. One cab is utilized to drive the truck unit when in transport mode, whereas the other is for controlling the crane. These cranes are extremely useful for building sites where a crane is needed in many different locations for the duration of the build. This is because of the fact that the crane is capable of being driven easily from one place to another.
Cranes could also be transported to different construction locations on the road because they drive themselves, that eliminates the need for extra transport vehicles. Being able to travel on their own greatly reduces transport costs at the end of the day.
The truck crane however is not stable enough to handle all the major loads that a hydraulic crane could handle. Therefore, so as to fix this issue, outriggers can be extended from the deck. The outriggers use hydraulic pressure to be able to slightly lift the truck off of the ground, making it balanced and stable.
Crawler-Mounted Cranes
The crawler crane is unique in that it has huge tracks on the base of the crane. These huge tracks are very similar to backhoes and bulldozers. The tracks enable the crane to successfully move around a construction locations.
