Forklift Classifications
Below are the classes of forklifts which describe the application and fuel option of each kind of forklift. Certification is truly necessary for each class of forklift which the operator would be utilizing.

Class 1 - Electric Motor Rider Trucks
These forklifts are available with either cushion tires or pneumatic tires. Pneumatic tires are recommended for outdoor application in dry conditions. The cushion tired models are designed for indoor surfaces which are smooth. These are electrically powered vehicles that use industrial batteries, which make them desirable inside closed environments where the quality of air is an issue. Hoist functions and travel are controlled by transistor motor controllers. These are versatile units commonly used everywhere from the loading dock to the storage facility.

Class 2 - Electric Motor Narrow Aisle Trucks
For the type of location where narrow aisles should be negotiated, this specific type of forklift is suitable. They are efficient at making the most of storage space. Their unique design makes them ideal where speed is needed and for small spaces.

Class 3 - Electric Motor Hand or Hand-Rider Trucks
These are battery-powered and hand-controlled models. Making use of a steering tiller, the operator could control the lift while standing in front of the truck. The tiller has controls mounted on top and is moved sideways to be able to steer the vehicle. The units which have smaller capacity utilize industrial batteries.
